I'm from Brazil, and this is my last tank!

Set up:
100x50x40 cm = 80 gallons

Plants:

Rotalas macrandras
Rotalas rotundifolias
Glossostigmas elatinoides
Riccia fluitans
Didiplis diandra
Ludwigias arcuata
Higrophila polysperma var. 'sunset'

Animals:

Only tetras fishes

That's a lovely tank, Fernando. I can see you're fond of stem plants. They make a tank look very lively but it can also be a lot of work keeping them in good shape. I don't know about you but almost all of us get tired of trimming stem plants after a while.

I saw your message in the "Trading Post" subforum. Just let me have your address and I'll send some mosses to you. You're not the first Brazilian in this forum, by the way. I've sent mosses to Gianmarco and Livio Nakano. Do you know them?

I've heard the planted tank hobby is quite big in Brazil, almost as big as soccer . Is that true?

I am sure you are joking.
But please get adviced to be extremely careful when you joke with football to a brasilian, it is veeeery dangerous.

Even if I have never been in Brasil I know that when it comes to football brasilians go crazy even more than Italians.
And in Italy football ranks third, just after breathing and eating (but only because if you don't breath and eat you cannot play football after) and at the same place than money and women.

I am sure that in Brasil it is the same!

Your plants look very healthy which is to me, the most important ingredient for nice planted tank. How do you do that?

I like stem plants when they are grew under very high light. In that condition, they express themselve with multiple colours, large size, densely together and stay low. They are really alive at that moment. The ultimum in planted tank.

Thanks all for yours coments.

About fertilization i'm using Azoo(only Iron) and Seachem (Trace elements).

About the light it's simple, only 1w per liter of water of tubular lamps like's Arcadia.

But the secret is that i have in substrate... Some about fertilizations in packs, likes EcoPlanted.

My water is: pH 6.5 gH 1.0.

Now, about the soccer, really.... Our soccer players are clowns... and congratulations to Italy and France....

I love your tank photos, Fernando. That tank must be high maintenance with all that stem plants, but it sure looks nice. How often do you trim it? How big is your tank, too?

Do you often see rare plants--well, rare in other countries--there? Brazil has very diverse rivers that are full of aquatic plants. Rivers like the Amazon and Sucuri to name a few. You ever tried exploring some of the rivers, streams and lakes close to your home?

Great looking tank, to make it a really dutch style tank you should split the red plants. Dutch-style means optimal contrast between plant Color/Leafshape etc.

The Rotala macrandra and rotala nanjenshan looks so pink it is almost neon in one of the photo. Is that the effect of the light you are using or is it just SO pink/red ?
