Ronnie, these were shot in early June at the Great Hall of the Azmi. Can I have the ID and strain? I don't think they are properly coloured up, any more available pairs?

and this is last night's Simpsonichthys stellatus, what strain?

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Choy, these look like young adults of Chromaphyosemion splendopleure Tiko and yes, the color is not right; either environmental or in fright. I have matured pairs of the Tikos plus others, ready to be bagged for your 'home studio' but since these are my breeders, I'll need them back alive (not crispies, please )

What I received and raised were then labelled as Simpsonichthys ap. aff. astellatus Urucuia. However in the 2005 Census, the "sp. aff." was omitted and the location was more specific, ie. Urucuia, São Romão. Perhaps Jian Yang is able to shed some light here.

    Side Note:
To my knowledge, there are only two representation of the stellatus in SG. The STLs you see now are the maintenance effort of a non-killie hobbyist, whose dedication makes some of us look like idiots!
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,

Ronnie, the first two pix are two different species/locality. I recall one being Tiko, and the other starts with "M".

The Simp. stellatus I am still not so happy with the colours. Do you still have models of these as the ones in the Great Hall is already sold.

You wanna meet up at the Great Hall again one of these nights with your models?

Depending on when those pics were taken, "M" can either be Chromaphyosemion splendopleure "Mbonge" or Chrom bitaeniatum "Majitam".

I have an impressive Mbonge breeder male and you can probably do it justice with better equipment. Ditto for the SPP Tiko and BIT Majitam. We'll play it by ear, to see when is a good time to meet up.

For the stellatus, my back-up should have better colored breeders but no promises.

In that case it would be "Mbonge", it was shot early June together with the Tiko.

Ideally I don't want to touch any of the breeders. However I have not been getting ideal shooting condition in the Great Hall. Colours seem rather difficult. I get great colours with the cichlids in the big tank probably to the neutral coloration of the rocks.

You mentioned two pairs of Mbonge at the Great Hall now, I'll pop over to see what can be done
