Well it went much slower than I planned but I completed the outdoor raising enclosure I had talked of on killitalk. It basically consists of some PVC pipes with some 90 degree PVC fittings like these(http://pvcfittings.com/graphics/SideOutlet90s.jpg). I did need an adapter for them all to connect. It is 2 x 2 x 1 if I recall correctly, pretty big and floating in a much larger pond.
The netting part my Grandma generously took care of. Basically two layers, first one inside of some kind of sheeting material and the outside stronger material outside.
Only one killifish in it as of now(gardneri) and some baby bluespotted sunfish. I hope to use it to raise large numbers of gardneri are something else in the future, perhaps next summer unless someone volunteers some Netamolebias, Austrolebias, or some other hardy and cold tolerant killie. I did put to gardneri in but the larger juvenile...a male, was caught later with a bluespotted sunfish juvie sticking out of his mouth and was removed. I was planning to give him to my Grandmother who is keeping 2 male gardneri I've raised but he decided otherwise and somehow jumped out of the 1 ft tall water pitcher he was in! Never underestimate these killies!
Only minor problem was that I did a pretty bad sawing job so some of the lengths of PVC are not the same length so it is a tad lopsided. The only other thing is that the netting had better be able to hold up and remain fishproof.
Probably not something many Singaporeans can do but since this place seems to be a place to share all kinds of unique ideas I thought i'd post it just the same.
