When I see the eggs (mop spawned) are in an advance stage of development(reach their hatch dates), I shake the container (water with meth blue) up a bit. I do this a few times a day.

I read somewhere how taking the eggs and putting them in a vial in your pocket while simulate thae same deal. What is it about shaking the eggs up that promotes a hatch?

    Hi David,

I have no idea why the whole shaking thing actually encourages the fry to hatch, but I feel it has something to do with how things occur in nature.

Often the eggs hatch in waters where there might be a slight current. I suppose the whole shaking thing might have something to do in simulating the natural environment in which the eggs hatch in.
