    Hi,

The Cherry Shrimp I brought home with me have started to look less colorful. In some cases, they seem to have lost all color.

Is this normal, or have I mixed in some cleaner shrimp with them?

    Hi Wright,
What water pH are you keeping them in and what's their diet? Do any of these Cherries come from me or store-bought?

Try dipping the pH between 6~6.5 and drop in an occasional small cube of blanched carrot to vary their diet. Let's see if that works.

BTW, have you rigged up a page on the packing methods? I'm keen to see what made it and which didn't.
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,

    Thanks Ron,

I'll try the carrot. That's very easy to do. They have been fed very little, because there were just the surviving ones you sent home with me, and they have had a 55g (4') tank all to themselves, with lots of plants and "stuff."

Water is my soft tap water. 80 ppm tds, with a KH of about 3-4. I'll be adding CO2, hence dropping the pH, as I get the planting finished.

The packing mostly worked well for those done exactly your way. The Boraras were showing some signs of distress (a few dead), so I repacked them in Richmond, before heading home over the Sierras. The Cory's were nearly all dead, and I got home with 2 and I think only one survives. I lost a fair percentage of the shrimps (20% +/-), but had enough for a start of three kinds. The zebras didn't make it.

I made a mistake with the rebagged Boraras, and mixed two of the species in one tank. HELP! Where can I find pics and/or descriptions good enough to let me correct the error?

One success. The orchid, Vanda Miss Joachim, I kept (gave 2 other species away) has survived and I was forced to transplant it as it had outgrown its container. Since my normal humidity (10-15%) is far too low for good orchid culture, I plan to donate it to the next BAKA auction, so someone much closer to the coast can raise it.

    Wright,

I have the same problem. Some of my Cherry Shrimps are less red than others and a few seems to have lost their redness altogether. Here's a pic of one that's still quite red however:

    My shrimp

Well, talking about shrimp. Here are a couple of pics of my shrimp. I have to say that I got all my shrimp as Red Cherry Shrimp, except for a couple of transparent ones that had some spots (similar to the ones zeth posted, he gave me a couple of them...).

The first one is a brown shrimp that was supposed a red cherry (sorry for the bad picture):

Then, I got some shrimp that was born in my aquarium. These are also brownish (Chocolate shrimp? ):

And another juvenile (like the ones zeth gave me):

So, I am not sure if they change color or not but I can tell you that you may have different colors. I also have red juveniles that are totally different from the ones posted here.

    REgards,

    Tony
