Hello everyone I hope you are all doing well. I have a question about light and mosses. Some of the people who keep Java Moss around here locallly say that it does not do well under high light conditions. Is this true or will it do just as well under high light or better than if it were in low light conditions?

Joe, as far as I know, mosses can grow under low-light conditions but with high lighting, they grow a lot faster. But the other parameters must be favourable to the mosses before this is true. The tanks at Bioplast are all under very high lights and their mosses grow very fast. In a matter of a short time, Bioplast can reap heaps of mosses from just a couple of fronds.

We know temperature is a very important factor. The lower it is, the better the mosses grow. Besides that, I think a high circulation rate and frequent water changes help the mosses grow well.
