I've been having mediocre success with 'Misaje' mainly by fry appearing in the tank. I think part of the problem is that the females have to run from the males all the time and this burns calories and makes it harder for them to produce eggs.

So my thoughts is to have one tank for males, and one for females. For the female I've even considered a divided tank since they will also squabble with each other. Then use a smaller breeding tank and place whatever fish appear to be plumpest in it for a few days.

    yup

Generally overnight is plenty for a female to lay her load of eggs. The longer you leave them in after that, the fewer eggs you'll end up with due to predation.
