    Hi,

I am looking for a certain strain/population of N. rachovii that I saw once in a local pet shop about 6 years ago. It had a greenish/blue(very green) dorsal fin, but I can't seem to pinpoint the correct one. It nearly looked like the first rachovii picture inside this link:

    http://www.killi.cz/killi/soubory/odruzich.htm

Is this the aquarium strain or Beira 98?

The reason why im asking is because nealry all the pictures of Beira 98 show them with blue dorsal fins. (some show a little blue/green colour)
Although it seems that the aquarium strain also has a blue dorsal fin when I do a google image search.

Is the colour related to strain/population differences or does it have to do with lighting conditions, food or age?

O btw this is my first post

    Any reply/help would be appreciated.

The fin colour you mention depends a lot on the lighting. In general, the fish of the Beira 98 population vary from bright blue to green-turquoise depending on lighting, age, time of day etc...

If you like, I can arrange some eggs of the Beira 98 for you. I have a small breeding group spawning right now.
