I usually just float it up at the top up my tank in a ziplock bag (usually bag came with the moss). Sometimes I add water, add water then empty, or just do whatever to get the moss to get used to the water quality. I'm lazy so they usually float up there a long while before they get tied down. Here are some pictures, right now all the bags are out of the water so I can see how the tank is doing without bags covering spots of light around the tank:

Singapore moss, moss is kind've mushy, theres mud in there, but capsules are spurting out like crazy.

I usually put them into small little tubs and leave the tubs all over my balcony. I've heard somewhere that you can store mosses in plastic bags and keep them in the fridge. Apparently, it's a good way of getting rid of the algae if it so happens your mosses have been infected. Have never tried it though so wouldn't know for sure if it works.

Hey Dennis, I used to do the exact same thing, they can sit for months! I actually have some in one from last december sitting on a table next to my tank...
