Need Some Help!

Hello,

I have this algae on my javamoss wich I can't eliminate.

Any advise for this type of algae?



My setup right now:

Aqua: 100x30x40(H)
Substrat: Only River Sand, no fertil area!
Light: 2x36w ~ 10 hours day
Plants: only javamoss attached to stones

Hope that someone can help me on this problem...

look like hair algae, you can manually remove it using tooth brush. Yamato shrimp eat this algae as well. Sechem florrish excell side effect work wonder on Black beard algae, not sure if it is effectiveness on hair algae :P .

If you don't mind taking it out from the water, you can use bleach or hydrogen peroxide, just make sure clean it properly and soak with lots of anti Chlorine.

Welcome here!

I saw Timebomb (KL), used molly fishes, they ate them.

Try the blackout method:
- turn off light for 3 days.
- keep tank away from strong light source like Sun. Blanket it if necessary.
- After blackout, the algae should disappear completely. Rinse the mosses under running water.
- Change water 100% after blackout.
- Put back the plant.
- Add nutrients.
- Turn on light for 6 hrs a day, increase slow, 1/2 hrs a week till you get 7~8 hrs. 7~8 hrs is more than enough and do not exceed 10 hrs.

Unfortunately I already tried some of these methods without good results, this algae is pain in the ***!!!

My molly doesn't touch this algae...

Hi Rui,

Mollies certainly eats them, I saw with my own eyes. You must not feed them at all. Remove all other fishes in the tank.

How did you do the black? Please give details.

I guess you knew the other thing is the nutrients and water temperature. Did you do anything on this? What have you done?
