super easy fish to keep. I'm keeping some right now. Almost 8 months.
I keep my pair in a 2.5 gallon with a spawning mop (100 threads) and a clump of java moss and nothing else.
My water is 7.6 out of the tap and is treated with Wardley's pH7.0 and aged in empty growler bottles.
I feed Hikari Microbits, NLS, Blackworms. These guys will eat eveything they can fit into their mouths. True gluttons.
Eggs are big. real big. but my setup is situated well enough that I have constant spawnings in the tank. every couple of weeks I go collect or just do a water change and there are free swimming fry. Cant get any easier.
Not a stunner by any means but its behavior attracted me to them. They like to turn their heads from side to see almost like they had a neck. All this while they hang out diagonally.
Good luck!
David

I had holmiae in the 1980-ies.
Worst jumper I have ever seen.
I got problems with sex ratio - only females.
So there were no more generations in my tanks.
But it is a nice fish anyhow.
Good luck in keeping it.
