Hi, can anyone advise me what kind of floating plants are suitable for slightly brackish water? I have started a community tank for a group of N.Rachovii and every kind of floating plants that I have introduced simply melted away I have only added 1/3 teaspoon of salt per galon (US).
The rest of the plants do well e.g. hornwort, C.Bacopa, Vallisneria, Mosses etc.

    Appreciate your advice.

    Regards
    Kai

    Hello Kai,

I can't be of much help here, but I don't think any floating plant would be able to survive in brackish conditions. Since you already have Hornwort thriving, it will be a good floater in place of the "traditional" ones like frogbits, etc.

I found this online guide to brackish aquariums with various setups and easy to follow guidelines per setup version.

You will find acceptable plant species capable of surviving each type of brackish setup in each section.
    Fish.. Simply Irresistable
    Back to Killies... slowly.

Thanks Jianyang. May I know what's the killie in your avatar? Its beautiful.

What kind of Simpsonichthys would you suggest that will breed in our weather here in Singapore and can be kept in a species community tank?

    Hello Kai,

The killie in my avatar is a Simpsonichthys fulminantis. That was a male from the Guanambi BHS 95/12 population.

In our weather, the best Simpsonichthys to keep in a species community tank would be Simpsonichthys constanciae. It is by far the easiest of the Simpsonichthys to keep and breed at home.
