Check the seller's feedback carefully. Ebay has been a poor place to get quality killifish, in my experience. Less than 100 or so favorable feedbacks, look out. Several sellers just get to enough bad feedback they change identities. Aquabid also has some scumbags, so caveat emptor. Better to get fish from a hobbyist you know, or through a club.

In this case, the eggs have no collection location or code, so are essentially worthless to most hobbyists. You will have trouble giving the babies away when you get them. I will not bother with an eggersi without any location ID.

Temp. in high 70s (F). 5G (20 L) tank ideal for one pair. Hard water and add 1 tsp of salt per 5G.

Males and females look like different species. Females drab and colorless and males quite gaudy (like the picture, maybe?).

No problem if you want fat discus. The din-din rule applies. If it fits in the mouth it is din-din. These are very tiny fish compared to discus.

The males are as belligerent as most Betta species, so provide lots of cover or only one pair per tank. Don't try to breed trios, as the spare female will follow and eat every single egg.

    Good luck,

Most serious hobbyists have come to recognize the conservation needs of the hobby. They are studious about never crossing killifish from different locations, to stop producing hybrids when they often are not really the same species, but just look alike. Sometimes they look identical and don't even have the same number of chromosomes!

We have lots of beautiful aquarium strains in the hobby, that have been here for years. We trust them to not go sterile in a couple of generations.

Most of the Nothos we have were collected in the last ten or 15 years, so few serious hobbyists want an unidentified strain of Notho. There isn't even any guarantee that all the eggs are the same species. That some dealers have tried to prevent hobby breeding efforts by deliberately selling hybrids or mixed-species eggs makes the situation even more sad.

If you just want some ornaments to grace a tank, get tetras or barbs that may live a lot longer. We HAVE to breed our short-lived killifish species, so try to get them with a good provenance from a reputable breeder who doesn't mind giving you the collection code with them.

I hope that answered your question.

Eyal, where are you located? It is perilous to purchase eggs across hemispheres except during the autumn/spring months. I was very stupid this December when I brought in some eggs from frosty N. America into sweltering sunny South Africa... None of the eggs made it alive. Worst of all, I knew better...

Good Northern Hemisphere breeders are TON2000, Corycory, Notho1975, Kiril, Sillykillies, Dr_Rog and Kharmafarm to name a few who I have dealt with. In the Southern Hemisphere the Argentina breeders are quite reliable (and myself but I don't breed the species you are after).

If you are in SE Asia, you may want to consider the Thai breeders who advertise on Aquabid. But then it is important to realize that the bulk of the killi literature does not apply to you at all! Due to the HIGH temperatures and humidity the eggs develop much quicker.

I advise you to try purchase killies from the source closest to you.
