I got some fairy shirmp eggs, but I have not had much success hatching them. What is the problem with using salt for your brine shrimp (Artemia salina)? At any rate it is much easier to maintain a brine shrimp culture than a fairy shrimp culture. If anyone has trouble raising the brine shrimp to adulthood let me know, and I'll give you some pointers. The fairy shrimp on the other hand have many different species with different requirements, most if not all of these species need the eggs dried before they can hatch. Brine shrimp can become viperous which means instant hatching inside the mother almost like live birth. To accomplish this you should maintain the salinity at 28ppt to 40ppt (specific gravity:1.020-1.030) a simple hydrometer will help a lot. If the salinity gets much above 40ppt they will start to produce the hard shell around the egg like you buy in the store.

Another problem with the fairy shrimp eggs is they will mold in the water if they do not hatch, so it defeats the purpose of feeding directly to your fry. Also the adults of most species are quite larger than brine shrimp, and require highly pure water and high oxygen levels (which means large aquarium). You can keep a small brine shrimp culture in a 20L with an airstone, and lots of sun, without much problem.
