Hi all,
I'm very happy Killies.com migrates so I could get such agreat info. Alas, I have now broken this tank down... But I will make sure the next planted tank will be FULL of shrimp. :-)
Kind regards

Hi Nature Addict,
It is a very hungry Fundulopanchax nigerianus Akkamkpa that inadvertantly posed for a picture.

i just realise nereit snails die easily though they do the job partially.
i have added 2 ramshorn snails just and see how it turns out.
some of my sakuras also died in the battle against the algae although they spawned and some of the baby sakuras are taking over some of the job.
let' see what the ramshorns can do.![]()

the best way to manage hair algae is to clear them and adjust your water parameters. I have added malayan/nerites with little success, but ive only introduce a small qty, unlike some bros who use 100 malayans to assist in their clean up crew in their 2FT.

I have some hair / thread algae in my nano tank at the moment and the cherry shrimp and nerite snails I added aren't touching it, The nerite snails are staying on the glass and the shrimp seem to prefer turning over the small grains of gravel. I will try an amano shrimp and see if he will eat it. Water changes are helping though.
kind regards,

You might want to try Malayan Shrimp instead. Yamatos will bully your cherry shrimp. And Malayans are proven to eat hair algae.

Are Malayans also sold as Rainbow shrimp?
kind regards,
