Newbie to planted, may I ask what do you do with overgrown moss? I've not trimmed or done anything to my moss since I got it sometime back, its lush and thick now and can see they've grown in size and some already dislodged from the wire mesh...think I hv some taiwan moss, spiky moss, flame moss...

It's always good to trim the moss when it gets overgrown, else it will be hard to get it to look nicely again. I did have problems long ago and only resorted to trim the log "bald" in order to get the moss to regrow nicely again.
So I guess for the wiremesh, you will have to retie again to get the mesh back in shape.

2 way of looking at it.
You can trim away the newer portion and the moss will start growing from what is left.
    Or.
You retie the moss to the mesh again, which in your case you should since it has already been dislodged.

I found that moss is like riccia, if you let it overgrown, the one below will die up. frequent trimming will solve the problem. This goes for fissiden as well.
