My favorite is a medium-size (40L?) tank with a half-dozen mature Corys, more males than females if possible. 2 reverse trios?

Fine river sand substrate (so barbels are not abraded by harsh edges) and heavily planted with stem plants, like hygro. Sponge filter and really clean soft water.

Once they are conditioned and ready to spawn, make water changes with somewhat cooler water than in the tank. Rain seems to stimulate spawning, and the cool water makes them think it has rained.

Most eggs will be deposited on a cleaned spot on the glass. The eggs are extremely sticky, but you can lift them with a razor blade and paste them to the sides of a smaller hatching container. Keep them oxygenated with a gentle air stone. The eggs look like dead killy eggs (i.e., white) but don't worry, they may be quite viable. If eggs fall off the side, pick up and paste them back, as eggs laying in mulm or debris don't do very well.

Feed APR, bbs and/or microworms as soon as they are free swimming with yolk sac absorbed. Add snails, arthropods or tiny shrimp to keep things really clean.

I haven't done Ottos, so am no help there.

    Good luck
