I've read comments stating that "Sakura" have legs which are also red? I know they are the same species, but their legs should also be red to be considered Sakura no?

I thought so also. Their heads area have some golden red lines like stretch marks. Still consider sakura? The body and tails are definitely solid red. I found 2 thread for reference.

I notice sakura is more slim than cherry, cherry usually tends to be more fat and wide, i could be wrong.

There are no straight guideline on differentiate or grading red cherry and sakura, as long as you taking good care of them, they will appreciate by showing you their best color. Red cherry or sakura, it really doesn't matter.

Cherry and sakura, like what sign said, trust your eyes. And must remember, you experience more pain when buying pricey goods, especially when the goods isn't up to your expectation. I felt more pain when I saw my grade C CRS died than when my Cherry died.

I have seen my cherries developing into sakura color after 2nd generation. At that time, I had only feed them TetraMin.

Till date, I still don't see myself buying sakura. Which recently I had a dilemma over buying sakura vs cherry - $4 difference for a pack of 10. Bought the cherries - due to the fact that color for the sakuras are not so so strong. 2 of the cherries developed stronger color, but still not very red. So have to wait for the shrimplets to grow.

Shrimp keeping is addictive. Even my tank scaping now includes hiding place for shrimps!

Ha ha I'm using "Pow Zheng Hong" to feed them. Hope they grow red red like my previous cardinal tetra. Just 2 month i fed the tetra till some grow to XL size which even the LFS was amazed by the feeding rate.

1.5ft is ok for cherries. No worries.

i bought bulk cherries from seaview but most of the females appear extremely red with no visible translucent area.

i think certain water conditions can make them really red?

I got my cherries from Colorful too. No more shrimp buying for 2 weeks.

1.5ft can put alot of shrimps

Here are my cherries. Not as red as blue33's sakura

When selecting sakura, i spot for their legs, i will only buy them if they have full red legs and i find that their body shape are different too..

    Just my23cents comment..
