    Hi guys & gals,

Does anybody knows how to prevent Ehiem 2222 from stop pumping water? I suspect is my skimmer but i lower down the sucking power already but sometimes my filter still stops. And its not easy to restart again as we know the flow rate of this filter is not powerful enough to pump water by itself not like other cheap overhead filter.

And when i open up my canister can see some of my cardinal tetra are inside. no wonder they keep on disappearing [:0]

    thanks pls advice

    CJ,

Happens to me too. Two things.

First, turn off the filter and hold the output hose upright. Do you see bubbles floating up the hose? If yes, let the bubbles float all the way up to the end of the hose and restart the filter. If this works, it'll only be temporary. I think 22XX series has a seal problem.

Remember the tube of vaseline that came with the filter? Use it. Open the filter, apply the vaseline on the rubber seal, close the filter, prime and turn on the filter. This solution should last months.

If you can, make sure the output hose does not have any bends that can trap bubbles. It's when air leaks into the filter and create a pocket at the output tap that causes the problem. Also make sure the outlet is below the water surface.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

If the skimmer is working properly, the skimming portion should be floating nicely at the water surface. Tendency of fish getting sucked in is less.

Another cause is your filter current flow is too high. Try reducing the flow. This may reduce the air being sucked in to your filter.
    Cheers!!
