can tell the difference between the type of hairgrass?

hi,
have seen some hair grass selling in lfs. Some are labelled japanese hairgrass, some are dwarf hairgrass, and some taller. Of course the prices are also different.

Can someone enlighten on whether they are the same. If not, then how to look out for japanese grass compared to dwarf hairgrass.

For a 1 footer, which type of hairgrass is best in terms of not getting all messy . I only want short and not too excessive growth and tall when they thrive.
