Decided to get ember tetra. Chinese new year is coming, yellow or red fish would be nice
Anyway bought 20 of them, but it doesn't seem to be schooling![]()
Getting harder and harderGolden Tetra, Emperor Tetra and Rummy nose tetra with max size 5cm, will take some time before reaching that size. Some won't even reach that size. As the tank environment will limit their growth. In a 2ft tank, they may just stop growing at 3cm.
While boraras maybe too small. A good school of 30-50 will look nice too.
Variation of Neon tetra?

day 2, ember tetra does not seems to be voluntary school. Is it because 20 to much for 2ft tank? I saw them swimming in group of 5 or 6. I may need to reconsider other fish

Like neon tetras. They kind of space out once they are comfortable but school when scared. Just erm...scare them for photos. Not too many times or some may get 'heart attack/seizure' and die. [really!]

That's what I did to my boraras! I have around 30 of them. Always hiding due to my 2 SAEs. Took them a few(4-6) out to my small tank. After a few days I put them back. A school of close to 20 will swim around happily for days. I do this once till date. Will do it again soon.
Chasing them seems like a easier option. Ask your son to scare them once or twice everyday?

long time never update
those soil patch is thanks to the Yamato which dig out my HC lawn. I decided to move them out. Added E.vivipara behind

You are right, Yamato shrimp dig up everything. I had that experienced on my Rocky Mountain also, removed them, Malayan are better, but sometime they do that also especially on the slope to find places to hide as iwagumi scape is too bare and open for them, they are too shy.
IMO. If the slope is much higher would be great, more perspective.![]()

You are right but can't do that, too late already. It will be dismantle pretty soon. I only need to wait until those soil patch fill by HC and take another proper photo.
When can we dismantle? IAPLC ADA release should be around Aug or Sept right? So only Aug or Sept we can dismantle? Was thinking of rescape the other tank also.![]()

Look very flat to me.How long your HC took to cover up the ground?

Next time will do more aggressive slope. Actually the height is at the vertical golden rule. Not sure whether that the right thing to do or should I go to the upper vertical golden rule line? what do you think?
I wonder if I should do another Iwagumi but this time only one mount. In my opinion 2ft is too small to make 2 mounts left and right. In my opinion it is look better without the left rock
It took about 1 month for HC to cover using dry method.

If I remember correctly, it was 4 pots. Plant it strand by strand. Dry start grow very fast, you should try it. You can put as much as light you want without worry about algae
.
Vivipara will look great. And nicely done there the golden rule..
