also, anyone know the length of the electrical cable for Hydor Koralias? I want to know how deep they can be placed in my tank
I'm running 2x Eheim ProII 2028s in my 4x2x2, and I'm finding the flow insufficient, especially as I extended the 2 rainbars (using installation kits) to sit across the entire back wall of the tank. While the flow is even across the top, it's weak.
I'm thus thinking of using Hydor Koralias to create more flow and eliminate deadspots. I tried using conventional powerheads, but as the water comes out in a concentrated jet from these powerheads, I'm finding that it doesn't help much in eliminating deadspots. These powerheads are also rather ugly (the Atman ones I got are grey and don't blend in).
Can I please get some advice on what size Koralia I should get, how many (I'm thinking at least 2) and where I should place them. For reference, my tank is using an island scape concept with a large driftwood hardscape in the centre.

Hi thanks for your replyI've bought and measured it, it's about 4.5 feet in length, 1.35 meters
You can try 2 X Koralis 2 at each corner of the tank. I tried one at the back corner so that it would be hidden by plants, but the water current pushes the plants to lean to the front which spoils the scape in my opinion. Changed to a nano to better fit my 2X1X1.5 tank. But your tank is bigger, think can go for Koralis 2 or 3. Depending on the way you scape, I would suggest one at each front corner pointing roughly 45 degrees and down to the centre driftwood. But if you have plants too near the sides of the pump, they will sway towards it. =(
I just put in 2 koralia 1s. They are put about 1/4 - 1/3 way in on the back wall. about 1/4 height too...pointing to the front corner and tilted to the front corners. The filter inlets are in the 2 back corners. This creates a kind of a triangular flow from the koralia to the front corner then to the back corner filter inlet. The "cone" shaped part in the middle should be circulated by the filter outlet spraybars, which are horizontal throughout the entire back top of the tank.
After about a week, I like the effect so far. If in the long run it still proves insufficient, I will shorten the 2 rainbars by 1 unit each (using eheim installation kits) and add another koralia 1 or nano in the space vacated by the rainbars (the middle top of the back wall) and pointing downwards to the front of the tank
