my malaya is not living well, 1more die today

Hi Bro,
had the exactly the same problem as you. After i installed a fan, no casualities.
After installing a fan and they are still dying, then u need on do more freq water changes. Maybe 10% every 3 days. I believe the substrate is leeching chemicals into the water. You have to keep up the water chages until the tanks becomes stable, then u can revet to once per week water change.
If after that they still dying, perhaps their just starving to death(unlikely)

I had the same problem as well. The yamatos stopped dying after i installed a fan. If u already have a fan then im might be your water parameters. I am using amazonia as well.
My new Yamatos are doing OK in a deg C 28-30max tank using Amazonia 2. I add a few coral chips to maintain water hardness. pH 6.5
I got my Yamatos from a LFS in Bedok in their display tank with no cooling and acclimatised. I believe that might be a reason for their robustness when introduced to a new tank.

Help!
I am not sure why my cherries and yamatos are dying
I got 50 Cherries, now left 1.
Just bought (Tues) 10 yamatos, now left with 3.
I have checked the ph (6.5) and ammonia (0), all seems ok. Temperature is around 22 - 24 deg C.
Once the CO2 and light comes on, some of them start darting around, while others lie on the ground as if suffering and finally they die.
I even add in a air pump, but it did not help. I have to shut down my CO2, hopefully the last 3 will survive. Now all lying horizontally clinging on to some of the plants.

one question, when u install a fan to cool the tank do u all ON the fan for 24/7?

Pls note, if you have new plant in your tank, make sure that the plant u bought do not have insecticide. The insecticide are used to kill snail before selling to u. The insecticide will enter the plant and when your shrimp eat the algae or eat the plant, it will die either fast or slow. To test the plant, before introduce to the tank, put them in a pail with water and put on cheap shrimp, eg malayan or cherry, if it die the plant cannot be put in the tank. Do not try with ghost shrimp or fishes, they cannot die with insecticide most of the time. Normally those pant with a bulb got more insecticide. If u introduce and see shrimps die, immediately take out plant. Worse condition that i have encountered, 100% needed to change water. If insecticide, normally u will c your shrimp turning round and round the die. Don't always think of ammonia, if u don't dig your sand/soil. Normally there will be nothing happen to your shrimps.
Treat your fishes like your baby. The sign and symptom is the same but cannot talk.
Go nature

Beyond the obvious things like temp and copper, its really anybody's guess to why they died. I've had friends who had entire batches cherry's just die for no apparant reason. I can only suggest perhaps and 30% or 50% water change and start again with a small batch of shrimp.
i think is the temp. i have this problem too before. u have fan?
