In most situations, the first thing to do is to make large water-change...best to be more than 100%....also not forgetting to put in water-conditioner.

If the condition is savable, the first frontline treatment will be to eliminate the ecto-parasite load....and the best chemical to use is either PP @ 2mg per litre of water for 24 hours or dipterex @ 125mg per 100 litres of water for 24 hours.

After that, if you see improvement, then redose the same after making 100% water-change.

After the second treatment, make 100% water-change and add acriflavine (LFS), preventive dose as recommended....and add 100gms salt to 100 litres of water (one ppt)....for 12 days.

If you feel fungus infestation may be the cause...add methylene blue at therapeutic level (LFS).

After that, check the progress....and let us know.

If after all these and the discus is still very dark...almost black..., endobacteria might be the cause and that calls for antibiotic(s) treatment.

    Take care,
    Andrew
