This really depends on several factors

If you are getting fishes that have already been in the LFS for some time, then it is quite safe to assumed that they have already been properly quarantined. Some (not all) LFS do have back rooms or reserved tanks where they will do proper quarantine of fishes before putting them on sale.

If the fishes you bought appears to be healthy and active, then it should be quite safe to introduce them to your tank directly.

Note that we're talking about quarantine and not acclimatization here. Proper acclimatization is still needed once you go home with your fish bag.

Of course, if you can afford the space to set up a quarantine tank, it would be great. You can observe the fishes for a few days / weeks before introducing them to your main tank.

    Never trust

that any fish is free from disease, or any shop is free from disease.
Quarantine for a couple of weeks protects all your livestock and planted tank setups. So I second that advice from Interestor. Make it a routine step, and you'll have fewer headaches. over the long haul.

Suppose you have a nice planted tank or two, with valuable fish in it.
You introduce a disease to that tank, and your treatment options are limited, automatically. Would you have enough spare tank space to house all your fish for treatments ?

Many less experienced fish buyers would not recognize early signs of disease.
