Friends, kindly help me here...
Hi Friends !
Just wanted to know the amount of activated carbon needed per gallon of Aquarium water. Actually my tank is 4 feet, about 200 Liters and the only option I have to keep activated carbon is a very small filter box which came and fits in with my Eheim Aquaball Internal Filter.
Just wanted to know if this small amount of carbon be of any significant use / effective in my tank or should I just leave out the carbon. Will such a small amount be effective in 200 liters of water ?
I want to run carbon continously and plan to change it every month. I want to use it to remove the organic wases and to maintain water clarity.
Kindly guide me a little here...
Thanks and Regards
Kush
Friends, kindly help me here...
carbon is not really necessary.
organic waste will be absorbed by plants.
regular tank cleaning will help as well.

I dont have any plants in there... Also I change about 50 to 80% of water every week...
My water still remians cloudy...
are your fauna seriously affected by the cloudy water?
if not, try to limit the water change to about 30% per week. maybe the bacteria colony in your filter is not established yet.

Is your tank cycled? Is the Aquaball the only filter for your whole tank? How many fish do you have in there?
Adding charcoal doesn't sound like it will solve your problem.

Hi there !
The tank has been running for about 4 months... I'm also running an Eheim 2217 on this tank... I guess the tank has cycled but I get cloudy water very frequently... I change about 50 to 80% water every week...
By God's grace, I havent lost a single fish in this tank so far and I hope that this continues... The fish dont seem to be affected by the cloudy water but its a little unsightly... Maybe its because of the livefoods and worms that I offer my frontosas ?
Kindly guide me a little...
does cloudy means 'whitish' look or is there visible debris in your tank?
you can try packing more filter wool into your 2217.

80% seems a tad extreme. I don't think that large an amount of water change is good for your beneficial bacteria.
