algae issue

hihi

brown algae always grow on my plant leaves. what is the cause of it?
anyway to solve the problem? my plants are dwarf hairgrass and parva.

otos love to eat brown algae, but not sure if it is at dwarf hairgrass

anyway, brown algae is because of low light. How big is your tank and how many watt is your light?

Usually tanks are prone to algae when there are excessive lights, nutrients available. It's like unbalance load on the ecology.

When more plants are introduced, more nutrients will be needed and the growth of algae may be minimized or reduce.

Some folks may introduce black mollies to eat algae or yamato shrimps to counter them.

There are also some anti-algae chemical which can be added to your tank. Some suppose to be harmless for all the fishes/shrimps in tank.

Try reduce or staggered the amount of light introduce to your tank. Say 3hrs On and 2 hours break.

I'm using a Daz 11w 8K lighting for 1 ft tank..
so is my lighting low???

8k light ? I usually stick with 6.5k as blue light has always been favored by algae.

But 11w for a 1FT tank is kinda low, unless you have low light requirement plants like ferns/ mosses.

U can try using Seachem Excel solution ... Is the best solution again algae so far. I have tested many solution but not a single solution can do it except this.... But do a 1/4 regular water change too
