Bossteck,
Thank you for your help.
I intend to use the normal Biohome (white) not the Biohome (red) but I notice that there are 2 types of the Biohome (white) - 1 type is the slim Biohome (white) about 5mm in diameter & the other type of Biohome (white) is labelled as Biohome Ultra which is about 15mm to 20mm in diameter. May I know what is the defference between these 2 types of Biohome (white) ? Or, rather which is the best for my kind of filter ?
Thank you.

Red has mineral if you read the label on the back, white/grey is normal. Personally i would go with the white.

I have never came across the slim version before, I am currently using the grey one, unfortunately, I threw away the box, so can't confirm if it is labelled as Biohome Ultra, but its diameter is definitely more like 15-20mm rather than 5mm. So I guess we're talking about the same thing.
Which one is better, I suppose with the slim version, you can pack more into your sump.
Supposedly, there're channels in the media which water can flow through, so bacteria not only colonise the surface of the media but also inside the media. Now, if this is really the case, then I suppose the thicker version would be better because water would be slowed down a little more and the general rule is that flow in the filter should be as slow as possible so the bacteria can have more opportunity to do their stuff. But I need to point out that these are all just theory. In reality, my gut feel is... slim or ultra, there's really not much noticable difference![]()

The Biohome Ultra is the new chunky version. Looks more like marshmallowI believe the Ultra version will allow more anaerobic bacteria to colonize the media... slightly more effective in tackling Nitrate. Perhaps a combination of Slim and Chunky if you have the space.

CAn add biohome to hang over filter?

Thank you all of you for the kind advise,

anything to care for first time intro biohome to HOF?
