    Hi all,

I have seen several forum members keeping Discus inside planted tanks, it is also noted that Discus do require higher temperature waters such as

    Display – 27.5 to 29°C
    Breeding – 30 to 33°C
    Growing On – 29 to 31°C

Question is this, what type of plants should i select in-order to keep them together with Discus?

I have a spare chiller and do wonder if it makes sense to have a chiller maintain the water temperature between the "Display" temperature as shown above? FYI, the above information is quoted from http://www.aqua-fish.net/show.php?h=discusfish

    Thanks,

    Huister

I have a discus planted tank, don't run a chiller for cost and environmental reasons, and the discus and plants are doing well good luck.

Anyway, keep things simple lor... running chillers and choosing during temperatures for different purposes make life complicated unless you really have time and energy to follow those "recipes"...

For discus planted tank, do look for plant that can survive in low PH(5.5 - 6.. Chiller is not necessary, just add fan will do. I have japanese hairgrass as the foreground. Try to make the background simple. Just to take note if you use oyama, try to have many green background plant. I found some of my discus, especially the blue and the red colored one, tends to be more darker. Plan well for the planted tank before adding the discus. I have a hard time choosing the correct background plant. Will be doing new scaping before new year. Hopefully this time round, the new planted tank one can last at least half a year

I use to make it simple by keeping them at room temperature except adding a heater during rainig season.
I prefer to keep plants that dont need to maintain often like ferns and nanas so that most of the time I wont be disturbing them.
Love all,Trust few,Do wrong to none
