    Hi bro,

    happened to pass by their shop last weekends (think at this shopping complex that faces the river @ Clarke Quay on second/third floor... the complex quite wulu & deserted as don't have high occupany rate though..)

    Price wise I think not very cheap (looking at the remotes they used...) but I think they do provide some training for those who buy the kites from them... [They better had, I will not dare to fly these few hundred dollars kite without proper training...]

    Sigh! Guess I better stick to flying those normal cheapo plastic kites with cane & nylon strings attached with my 2-yr old girl...

    Thanks bro. They actually have a website. And they give class on how to fly their kites. You will be provided with practical experience at night somewhere nearby their place every Mon/Tue/Thur night from 8-11pm. Someone posted online on the rate, the cheapest model for whole set is around $600+, including the RC. Still considering. My office is nearby, will visit them to find out more one of this day.

    Oh! They have simulator at their shop for you to practice before the real practice. Wow, your signature from flying planes to planting. You must be very good at it.

    haha... wont say i'm a pro... have not flown RC for awhile now due to commitments... but i used to fly IFOs also... Indoor Flying Objects. thats what those kites are used to be called. now they are no longer restricted indoors as technology advanced in brushless motors and light plus high capacity lithium polymer batteries.

    well i believe the goflykites group are pretty good since they have participated in NDPs before.

    so are you getting any 'motorised kites' soon???

    I used to think about getting one, but I'm also an RC hobbyist, I think making one is more rewarding.

    Many rc hobbyists have come up with their own 'knockoffs' .

    Here, checkit out.

    Just a small guide;

    Normally if you are starting in RC aircraft, you need these things;

    Radio transmitter

    Radio receiver

    Servomotors or servos for short (these helps control how the aircraft moves, you need at least 2 of them to control the aircraft)

    Motor (this turns the propellor, duh)

    Electric speed controller or ESC (this one controls how fast the motor turns, which affects how the airplane flies)

    battery (this is a special battery, normally a lithium polymer cell battery)

    charger for lithium polymer cell batteries

    And lots and lots more....

    I don't recommend getting a kite if you have no other RC experience, despite what others may say. Many a beginner has turned their kites into wrecks, totaling tens of dollars of electronics. I think that most of the people flying at clarke quay are probably on their 2nd kite onwards....

    It's better to just get a simple aircraft first... and go to the nearest RC aircraft gathering place.

    not plugging for the company, but I find this package very comprehensive.

    Dude don't do it!

    Get a proper airplane kit then buy a kite later. It's much cheaper, believe me.

    Fook Hai Building is the epicenter for rc aircraft and helis hobby. Recce the shop but also do your homework.
    If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

    As with any hobby do your homework first. Like Sunfire has mentioned, it is definitely more satisfying to build one yourself but not everyone have the craft skills plus most people are impatient to start flying immediately. You can get second hand stuff from www.daddyhobby.com, I do not like the small foam planes, remember bigger means more stable. Of course there are those that fly well also. Simulators are not a must; you just need proper gear, knowledge and practice. It started with IFOs then people start marketing their own "kites"... most important thing is to do a lot of reading first.

    Do have fun with this new RC hobby.

    I was planting nanos tanks and then I got distracted by the RC hobby for a while then I'm just planning on my next nano tank again....

    RC hobby is rewarding and painful at first - rewarding when you actually manage to FLY. Painful when an improperly tuned plane just turns, flops and crashes - which I've done a lot of.
