Nice and simple tank setup, have you cycle your tank long enough before you add shrimps into the tank. The tall plants as I think is not E. tennelus, the leaves are so close and my view is Blyxa japonica, hope I'm right. May be others can help you.
Size: 2 feet
Light: Rex T5 Dymax 2x 14W Tropical
Subtrate: Gex
Plants: Japanese hairgrass & "unknown"
Filter: Hang-on filter
Started with this in mind, but I tried alternatives.

Decided that this is the best bet!
This is how it looks like in my room.
Finally, after planting all the plants, it's water time.
Done!

Now I'll wait for the hairgrass to curl and the plants to grow taller.
Maybe I'll bring in the shrimps tomorrow.
Can anyone help me identify the taller plants?
Is it echinodorus tennelus?
Thanks!

Is your tank custom-made?

It's "Kotobuki" tank.
Been looking for a long and shallow tank for a while.
It's available at Seaview for 3 red and a few purples notes.
The plants are not doing very well, the ends looks very shrivelled.
nice looking set up there, i like the wood you have.
If I were a fish, I'd BREED all Day!

I wonder where you found all those woods?

nice positioning of the wood
i love this tank..

any updates? faunas?
the hang on filter suffice?
Formally known as EpiCentre in AQ

Here's the update as of tonight.
I've actually removed the Blyxa Japonica and replaced it with E. Tenellus.
So much nicer, I feel.
Also planted some regular hairgrass in the background.
I'm actually only making use of the skimmer of the hang-on filter.
My initial plan is not to use any filter at all.
The other hairgrass nano tank is one of my experimental no-filter, CO2 & light tech.
I hope it works for this tank as well. Will remove the filter soon.
Will introduce CRS and maybe a SAE.
Introduced 2 oto, 5 cherries and 9 yamatos few days back.
All doing well.

No filter for a 2ft tank? I'd suggest a filter of some sort to allow better distribution of nutrients in the water column via the current.
Other than that nice tank set-up![]()

if you didn't add anymore fauna that means the cherries multiplied!!![]()

any more pictures?
Nice work, bro!
Cheers
You really been running this tank without filtration? How often do you perform water change?
Still running with filter, but more strength on the integrated surface skimmer.
The protein & dust on the surface is a sore-eye.
Water change prolly once every month or so, 10-20% each time.
Took out all equipments for photoshoot.
I'll take more photos tomorrow.
