Would Algae transfer from tank to tank thru filters

Hi all

I have a canister filter in a tank which is not totally free of algae. Would the algae transfer to a second tank if I were to transfer the filter over ? The second tank is now doing fine without any algae.

if the tank is free of algae, it means the conditions are not suitable for that kind of algae to grow
generally it means the algae won't transfer
but i'd still be very cautious doing this
even if the algae that are carried over die off, there might be parasites or disease vectors
so...
do at your own risk..
