a simple basic planted tank would be nice... a large bog wood with plants... and $10 worth of guppies..... u dont need chiller or co2... monthly just top up guppy and maybe change bogwood

Plan with how much time you can afford to give the setup each day/week.

For any tank setup with livestock, water changes, trimming and fertilization (for plants) and feeding are tasks you can never avoid.

A proper planted tank may not require a lot of money but it does require some effort to maintain it nicely.

I will do Iwagumi with group of schooling fish. Not so simple at fist but once all the plant growing, you can just leave it in auto mode.

I found I have more time maintaining office thank rather than home tank. At home, there are computer, television, playing with your child and end up no time for tank . At office you can maintain it every lunch hour .

Hi, If I have the chance I would consider Shadow's advise or do a planted tank with fish. Its very practical. I believe visitors to your office would appreciate more on some form of movement(fish) rather than just plants. Just my opinion. Thanks.

    You are going with planted?
Have you considered setting up a African cichlids tank?

You would definitely spend lesser time on maintenance (compared to a planted tank).

You will get colorful and active fishes, it will also probably cost less since there will be no need for co2 injection, no need for strong lights, no need to combat algae and our tap water has just the right pH.

Koi will be the best bet. Low maintenance!

Go for a planted tank! The lush greenery and active fishes will help to relieve some of the monotony of the daily grind.

planted tank is the preference now - we have put the tank in position and filled it with some water...

we should come to a decision soon...

I like to suggest your plant species only include rosetta plants in the final iteration.
    Lowest maintenance and requirements!

    ok we are making progress...

filled up with water and put in 30l of sand (not sure what kind, but looks like clay) and let the filter run overnight...

now the water is clear and the empty tank actually looks quite nice...

thinking of adding 2 packs of gex soil, and some rocks + driftwood and lots of hairgrass...

next will be to setup the CO2, lights (any recommendations?) and some small fish and everybody will be able to enjoy
