anyone knows about photo voltaic cells

hi,
anyone has experience to DIY a small assembly of photovoltaic cell to generate some solar energy, perhaps may be useful to power some of the air pumps. etc.
is it feasible and will it be costly.

I am not an expert but 1 cell ranges from 20 - 40 dollars and does not output a lot.

It is possible that you can use them in parrallel to up the amp input somewhat.

If you rig up some form of ni-cd or ni-mh charger it might be possible to keep your filters running at night, but then I would only use this for nano-tanks or smaller.
