What's Going On? Most users ever online at AQ

saw something quite strange today about an occurance which happened a few months back, "Most users ever online was 191, 2nd Apr 2008 at 05:13 AM". It was a Wednesday morning.

about the same time today (11 Jan 2009 Sunday 05:13 AM (GMT+08:00)), a few months later, the register is "Currently Active Users: 40 (12 members and 28 guests)" which is only about 20% of the peak

why more people is online on a working wednesday morning than the morning of a rest day? what is the special occasion? Is AQ clock based on (GMT+08:00)? Talk about strange sleeping habits.. why are people online when they suppose to be in bed??? sneak into AQ when their OCs are still sleeping, like me??

i wonder who are the 191 online? need to speak to their bosses for their poor productivity.

For those interested...

The traffic trend in AQ is normally weaker on weekends and public holidays. I believe these are generally due to family commitments or availability of time to go 'jalan jalan'. Within the day, the traffic is stronger just before leaving for work, just before lunch, after dinner and from about 8 pm to 1 am. Normally, it is the weakest from about 5.30 pm to 8 pm. This is a clear indication of a large population base from a specific timezone, hence the synchronized timings.

As for the most number of user online, take that number with a pinch of salt. A lot of time, that number is impacted by crawling spider/bots that searches the internet for information. Currently, AQ has about 500 to 600 unique (non recurring/repetitive) members that log in every day. This is a number that is increasing year on year since 2004. A good sign of a growing community.

On weekend and public holidays, that's when we can take care of the tanks/fish.

Well on a wednesday morning, or any weekday morning, we're getting bored in office!

Do take note that we have many overseaa friends from different timezone. It wouldn't be surprise that they visit this forum at 5am Singapore time as they may be having noon break.

I didnt notice the traffic though, probably because im only online during its weakest periods.
