2213 won't work...help!

good morning all,

i had a small problem with my 2213 filter, i used it for about 6 month already and yesterday it suddenly stopped. stopped as in the motor is still running, but no water is flowing out of the filter.

what is the possible cause? i had not cleaned the power unit yet, could it be stuck?

did u prime the filter? perharps air trapped internally?

yup! i have prime it. it is the first time i encounter this problem.

How your filter? Is there any water when the filter stop flowing? Chances are that there is a leak somewhere and air is being sucked in causing airlock.

thanks for your concern. i have changed another filter already. that stupid 2213 just wont work even all the air had been drawn out. all the parts that could be dismental has been taken out and cleaned. still cannot work.

i have changed the filter to a cheaper brand "ViaAqua". anyone heard about this brand? any comment?

Err.. how long is the Eheim warranty? Can it be sent in to be repaired?

before 'condemning' the filter maybe you'll like to try something.
1) fill up filter and pipes with water and ensure that there is no air trapped.
2) place inlet pipe into a pail of water and shut the outlet pipe. place both filter and pail on a higher surface than the outlet pipe. release the outlet pipe and check if water flows from pail to outlet pipe. this will tell you if there is any blockage.
3) if water flows, place the outlet pipe into the pail and switch on the filter. water should circulate. if not, the impeller could be faulty.
4) if water can circulate place the outlet pipe above the inlet pipe (or at least the height difference in your actual setup). if water don't flow now then your impeller is faulty and cannot pump the head pressure required. changing the impeller should resolve the problem.

I was once told that ViaAqua is from the same manufacturer as Atman. Reliability should be the same, cheap and lasting...
By any chance if you want to discard the filter, I would gladly adopt it for some experiment.
