Just changed my light to T5H0 (39W x 4) for my 3ft tank & the plants are bubbling very well. However, algae can be seen on the glass, beneath the soil & on some plants (+ layer on water surface). What could have gone wrong? Below are my setting:
    (1) Light up from 2pm - 10pm
    (2) Co2 - don't know the bubble count
    (3) 2 cooling fan (24/7)
    (4) Water temperature - don't know
    (5) External Eheim canister filter
    (6) KH = 4, PH = 6.5 - 7.0

Maybe you should provide a full tank shot and ferts regime. And is your tank fully cycled?

Judging from the plants shown in the pictures, all seems to be low light demanding plants and crypts are slow growing plants. And your lights seem too strong for them. Hair algae, brown algae and green spot algae. Green spot algae is common when there is high light. Hair algae and brown algae occurs normally during the beginning stage of cycling, where the tank is not planted enough.

You are in trouble if you do not know your CO2 well. Also, I am alittle worried about the temperature coupled with other factors like tank dimension?, lighting period? and fertilization ? What is your plant mass in the tank ?

From what I see from the pictures, I got a feeling that your plant load is low with many low light plants and you are putting out too much light.

need your tank's full specs and a full tank shot

I have a 3 ft tank and was infested with algae so much I have to tear it down.I am also having 39 x 4 T5Ho and have tried less light, more ferts , less ferts ,EI method, water change, more CO2 ,less this , more that ....the list goes on.

It is quite tough to get a balance as the plants don't really talk to you and without much experience, it's difficult to stike a balance. After a long battle, I finally did something that some hobbyists (including myself) are reluctant to do, that is to plant more, as much as 80% of your tank bed area, and try to plant some fast growing specis like Ludwigia repens.

Now I have a tank almost cleared of algae except for the occasional ones on the glass surface.

You will find that a tank that is densely planted will be more forgiving to other parameters' variation.

I would agree with newtank. More plant in the tank will very much help to balance up your tank. My tank only has algae in the beginning...later (about 2 months) everything was ok.
By the way, lately also discovered with clean filter and pipes it'll also reduces the growth of algae

Algae will thrive if you cannot handle tanks with small plant load or plants that are difficult to grow.
