How do internal filters introduce air into tanks? as all the filtration and all takes place within the water and eden 304 does not create much turbulance, will it help replace air into the water? or will i need an aerator for a small 1 ft tank running on eden 304?[]

I believe the 304 comes with something that allows you to divert the water flow? Divert it towards the surface to create some turbulence. Depending on the number of fishes, you may or may not need an aerator.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

the bigger internal filters have an port for you to attach airline tubing cf the eheim 10xx series (all except the smallest one)

thing is my tank has this plastic framing thingy which doesn't allow my to bring the filter high enough to direct the water flow...unless i reduce the water level but it looks horrible...so i guess an aerator is the only way to go...

attach the 304 to the glass horizontally instead of vertically.
you should be able to get the outlet closer to the water surface.
most internal filters are designed to operate completely submerged
in order to keep them cool. operating them with the power head
above the water surface may cause it to fail prematurely.

yes but that would make the tank rather unsightly...maybe if i attach the plastic piece so it redirects the flow upwards....for the time being i'm using an aearator... []

this is starting to become an art. on one hand, we want circulation and surface turbulence for the fishes ... on the other hand we try to minimise co2 loss for planted tank. i'm using overhead filter now and may consider a small internal filter for mechanical and biological filtration but not sure if the o2 produced by plants and water movement are sufficient to sustain about 25 inches of fishes (mostly tetras) in my 2 ft 80 litre tank.

If you have a healthy & moderately planted tank, no need for aeration lah. Aeration only needed for fish only tank.

    bclee,
The tank he is mentioning could be a fish only tank....
    Cheers!!

I tot Peter was mentioning "minimising CO2 loss" and "not sure if O2 produced by plants is enough..."

The current produced by the filter will circulate the water; oxygen is replenished when the water is circulated around. Imagine a cyclone...

Eden 304 is a suitable filter for a 1 ft tank... I'm using it for my 16inch tank and quite satisfied with it. Perhaps you can adjust the outlet tube to increase the flowrate, maybe yours is set at a low flow rate...
