I just switch to Starthub broadband package which comes with the Motorola voice-enable-cable modem.

I am thinking of setting up a wireless network at home using Linksys WRT54G wireless router and the desktop computer connects to a Belkin F5D7050 wireless USB2.0 adapter.

Anyone has similar setup or would like to share your config and experience?
    Thanks in advance.

I'm using the Linksys WRT54G. Just plug and play! Problem with this router is that it will restart itself if you turn Playstation 3 on. Quite problematic if you're a gamer.

    It's quite a good router!

    Cheers!

    Thanks Benetay.
In the end, I got myself a Linksys WRT54GL and USB adaptor. The pair just work fine.

Is this the same as PoE (Power over Ethernet) or something like that? What advantages are there over WiFi networking?

the obvious advantage is the constant connection anywhere in your house, but I do have a WIFI incase I use my lappy else where

Simon, which powerline plugs (make & model) are you using and matched to what router? I'm using a long-range router but the wifi connection is very iffy after several walls.

I've never had this problem (I've owned a 54G v2, v5 and a 54GL), I don't think its an issue with this series of routers, most likely your router is faulty.

Have you tried updating the firmware?

What brand / model are you using? Have you measured the throughput?
I've not managed to find a ethernet over power solution that actually works decently, it would simplify my living room setup vastly.

Before I set up the network, I was a bit worry about the signal strength and reception due to the layout of the house. It did work out quite well eventually though. Aztech 85mbs? Hmm.. this could be an alternative solution to extend the coverage further. Thanks for the info.

Actually, I saw this post too late or I would recommend you to get SingTel Mio plan. Comes with the integrated wireless modem + router (Mio box) that works perfectly with both my PS3 and Wii
