Roger, I am personally very happy for you that your HC has worked out. Pipes and stuff are part of the tank equipment and I think over time you will minimize them and move them around. It has taken me months to simple cable tie a few things together to make it neater.

Viper - This is a HC setup and Roger had a another thread to ask for some tips on growing HC. It has come out rather well.

I like your tank very much Roger! I think it will get even better in a couple more weeks! I can see that you really painstakingly planted individual strands of HC.. Mine is more haphazard! Ha ha ha ha... regretting a little cost some are floating up. SO, I've removed some of mine and redone them correctly like yours. Well done!

it has grown nicely well done, Iwagumi scape is not easy thing to do, mostly due to lack of plant thus prone to algae attack. Can take photo from the center instead from the top?

how big is the tank? I saw 2 MH.

planning to add more fish? too little fishes, a bit too empty

Can see some algae already... on the big rock on the right. But i think it makes it look natural.

That green spot algae can't be help shrimps and otos will not eat that, snail maybe.

Let me know if you found the effective way to eradicate it. Tom Barr said increase the PO4, I'm trying it now.

Get a school of rummy nose fish, it will lead the rest to school and fill up the empty space. Time to get a tooth brush to scrub the algae on the stone.

yeah, a giant shoal of fish will be nice !

would be nice if you have a mixture of different lawn plants such as e.tenellus, glosso, japanese hairgrass and even dragon claw. believe it would give it a 'pasture' feel as there would be different tones in the green and different denseness...can plant jap hairgrass around the borders of your hardscape.. just an opinion

thanks loopy! and yea. i have another thread under (fertilization and algae) which is where i learn more from good fellows ppl from AQ.
And i removed the powerhead today and replaced it with a wavemaker to make the circulation of water more efficient. i will let the tank run first and will try to update a photo of it.

craftsman sounds like a professional name.. hahaha.. it is definitely painstaking and i have many thanks to go out to a friend of mine to assist me in the perfect planting width & dimensions of the HC. just replant them in and it would do the trick! PATIENTS IS THE KEY!

i cant agree more with shadow. during this period, i have been giving intense care to my plant everyday. algae attacks are inevitable. i can tell u how heart racking it would get to see ur plants covered in algae. u name it, i have it. all sorts of algae. but with good water circulation, high lvl of CO2 which means @ least 3bps and OD of seachem flourish excel.. i overdose like nobodies business. 3-4x normal dosage! wipe out a handful of my livestock. and something to share with everyone that i have learn. the colder the water, the slower the HC will grow. and i cant say it is useless cause with cold water, HC tends to grow more brighter in green. which means, nicer.. my tank is 4ft x 2ft x 2ft.. refer to my other thread for more details. i am planning to add more fishes but once more HC gets more stable in like 1 week time.. deciding what fishes would be good. maybe rummy nose tetras as recommended?

hi blue! actually the algae wouldnt look so bad cause due to the period when i am ODing my excel, i have like 10 snails died!! they are the usually cleaners for my stone and they do a very good job. but might try to brush. hmm... what would the nature of rummy nose fish be? i heard from my expert friend saying that once they are bigger, they will tend to be up to alot of mischef. haha.

Well that is good to hear. Your HC will make solid foreground display.

Loopy: Frankly why I say that was due to the fact I saw many Cardinals in the tank. The Cardinals are most stress as they have no where to hid and no shade...

nice bro, you should try out the downois, they are overrated for their difficulty to grow.

those in my tank are totally covered up by my stargrass but are sending out new shoots on the side all the time. mine are grown in lapis sand!
