This is exactly the scape i wish to achieve in my 2ft. Except i plan to have small areas of HG around the rock formations. Also i hope to include a slightly steeper gradiant from back left to front right. True inspiration, well done!

Wow. Roger. I have a messy 4 ft Juwel tank too and was half think of selling or changing the scape totally. Personally I prefer shrimps but reckon 4 ft is too big.

Your scape has blown me away. Simple yet full of character. Unfortunately, my are just normal lights and wont be able to grow the HC like yours.

May I know where did you get the rocks from and what's the estimate price?

normaly rock is in Kg, normally 1kg = $4

You can try other low light plant like Marsilea hirsuta, hairglass, etc. There are some medium light foreground plant.

hello!! u can easily get rocks from pasir ris farm.. and one of them is Mainland.. they sell very nice rocks. u can try out. As for price wise, i forgotten how much i paid for it cause i bought other stuffs together with it. it shouldnt be too expensive. maybe like what shadow said? 1kg = $4? just make a trip down to check it.

hello jervis. i do notice rummy nose going near the HC. but if i feed them regularly, i think they wont disturb my HC too much haha.. i am removing alittle of them @ a time. now maybe having 80 around. cause cheaper to buy in 100 pcs so i threw all in. thanks for reminder.

Rummy nose will disturb your HC, used to keep them. Especially when they grow bigger. They will start to dig your substrate - looking for food - when the lights are off. And they can really eat. My china gujing used to be regularly uprooted by them, just like their toys. I plant, they uproot.

hi rogergoh, very nice HC lawn, can you share the details of your setup?

    eg substrate, lighting, fertilisation routine...

do you intend to add other plants at some strategic locations?

    hello gentle man. haha
since that u have asked, i will share what i know. i am using JBJ base fert. substrate would be ADA amazonia 2. and i have inserted ADA multi bottom long. through out the whole scape. CO2 @ 4-5bps running 24/7. and my lighting would be 2 x 8k 150w MH light @ 8 hours a day. if there is bad sign of algae, i would reduce the light to 6 hours a day. i am using.
DAILY- 10ml of ADA Brighty K,5ml of Green Brighty Special lights & Step 1.
    - 10 drops of Green Bacter, 5 drops of Phython git,Green gain & ECA
Every 2 days -50ml of SEACHEM EXCEL.
Every 3 days -10% water change.
Every 1 week regardless of when i do the 10%, i will still chage - 30%water.

The main thing is patients and u can trim the HC once every 1 1/2 month.
My PH is within 6-7. KH is within 4-5. Water Temp is about 25-26/27.

Every tank is very different, this is for 4ft x 2ft x 2ft dosage. it really needs time to get use to ur tank. like monitor it closely @ early stages. if algae is promoting, u gotta stop ur ECA,GREEN GAIN, and both GREEN Brighty special lights and step 1. the rest may continue.

As for now, i wouldnt plant anything just yet cause CNY is coming and i am gonna enjoy first. haha!! HC alone is good enough. and i have already been through the shit period and now time to relax alittle. it really takes time and effort. Wishing Everyone a Prosperous and Happy CNY!

    Best regards
    Roger

    hi roger,

Your HC lawn seems to be doing very well, I'm thinking of starting a planted tank myself with a HC lawn too. Can you share what sort of fertilizers are you using and also the wattage of the light? I heard that for HC it has to be more than 3wpg?
