Question answered from kind bro here. Thanks

I just want to know the recomendation of either buying soil or powder form of ADA Amazonia Type II.
Its certainly cheaper to buy it in the larger grain but ultimately its the same as powder, so for the price hike to get powder is it that much more beneficial than granular?
I've heard about it breaking down into slush quite easily, but my tank is a long term alteration so i can live with this. Anyone have any thoughts/comments on this. Would be greatly appreciated.
Apologies if this is posted in wrong section - was unsure where to post it![]()

Hi Verminator,
I hope that bro gave you the appropriate answer.
The purchase of the Power or normal grain of ADA Soil depends on your needs. If it is a small tank and you intend to make the scape look bigger than it really it, the small grains will give you that effect.
If it is a large tank, then I would suggest using the larger grain. However, we would strongly recommend topping up the top most layer of the substrate layer with the Power form. This Powder form allows the planting of hairgrass, Glosso or HC very very much easier. This is because, due to their small grain size, they hold the plant in the substrate much better.
In addition, in some of the scapes that might involve a very steep slope, beside using rocks or other hardscapes to hold back the slope, we make use of a thicker layer of Powder soil. We observed that because it is smaller in granuales, when water is added to the tank, soil grains do not roll off the slow so easily.
And about the Powder turning into slush more easily, because a different processing chain is used, it doesn't break down faster or as fast as the normal sized soil.

Dear ADA SG,
Can the liquid fertilizer be used if i don't use ADA substrate?
VIPER
Almost all manufacturer will tell you not to mix their products with other products.
This is because ADA concoct their fertilisers based on the basis that their substrate is used. Therefore, the liquid fertilizers are a supplementation to the substrate nutrients.
You can still use the liquid fertilizers. Look at the plant growth and make necessary adjustment to the dosage amount.

put it this way, there are so many aquarium product out there. Just imagine how many combination and how much resource needed to make a compatibility list. So to protect them self from being sued they probably will not recommend mix their product. just my 2 cents
