I just bought a packet of brown sand from auntie at C328 (didnt see properly, had wanted black initially but brown looks really natural too) and need more to fill up my 422.

Auntie informed that the sand is currently out of stock, so I am looking at alternatives... As you know, once sand is mixed, you can't undo the mixture, so I need to know if there are any difference between the two sand and if mixing them is recommended...

Finally, as I am still thinking black sand, the alternative for me is to buy another 20kg of black sand from Sudo to mix... the mixture will be 2/3 black and 1/3 brown... As I cant visualise how this will look, am looking for comments as to whether it is recommended...

Are you refering to Sudo/Starpet's brown colored bottom sand? The color is a lot lighter than Dennerle's light brown/dark brown series. What you pay for one pack of Dennerle, you can buy 4 packs of Sudo.

Also, grain size for Sudo is finer that Dennerle.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

You can try NA for Dennerle gravel. Not too sure whether you are referring to that...
