Thanks! Was looking for more info on crypts.

Looks like you are also going into crypts and other rosette plants......

    Cheers,

crypts have been my favourite plants since day one
i fell in love with them when i saw the crypt lawn at happy aquarium

they're easy to maintain and close to indestructible if your base fert is rich and you don't disturb them every few weeks
    great plants
not expensive, if you get them from the right sources

huh? Don't quite understand? Do you mean to ask whether you can propagate them?

Anyway, personally, I love crypts too. It's super easy to maintain (ideal condition) and the best part is that it's native in our area. Alot of supply and varieties. Wish I could spare some time to visit some rivers in M'sia to check out the crypts there once the rivers has stop flooding.
    Cheers!!

Splitting? I think when your crypts has grown in for real long, you can take out the whole plant and seperate them at the crown. I have a friends who has the red wendtii for 4yrs at the same spot of his tank and they kinda propagate and grow around that spot, rather thickly.

crypts mostly propagate from the roots. In fact, I juz uprooted some C.balansae and found some smaller platlets attached to the roots.
    Cheers!!

eh.. from the looks of it, the crown has grown 2 plantlets on each side.. i think i can just pull them apart and replant them?
    or they propagate by runners?

If the crypt plantlet is bigger.. small one might not survive the 'melting'. I've tried it tho.. and it took a long time for that small tiny plant to grow.

Most probably, balansae propagates by runners, or rather rhizome, similiar to java fern. If u notice how the guys at teos unearth the balasae. They use a scissor and cut around the plant.
