Cardinal and shrimp must not be mix. Check your water quality.
Dear all,
Just wondering if its common:
After every water change there is a potential of having 1 shrimp dead. 5-10% of the water.
Also I notice they like to feed on my riccia plants is it common.
How do I feed them shrimp food as I'm afraid all my cardinals will eat it too.
Many Thanks

i have cardinals and all kinds of shrimps (with exception of CRS) in my tank...all living in harmony. Food wise I let nature takes it course...either shrimp picks up left over or settle for algae.
If any fatality (actually minimum) amongst the shrimp this will be replenish with more bags from C328. Ha ha!
just to add on, when you do a WC, how is your water prepared? shrimps are quite sensitive when it comes to water parameters..
I will use a small tube to suck out all the debries from the tank about 5% change each time.
I'm using water Purifier all this time so I know the quality of water is no issue. I suspect is the cold water i put in that makes the shirmp cannot tahan.
Today I just did a water change without puting cold water. So far no death liao.
Btw I do 5% water change everyday.

i have no fatality whatsoever as i add cold water also
maybe it's the volume to tank ratio, as mine is a 4ft tank adding the cold water doesnt have too great an effect!
I think you had misleading on this, being keeping both together.
You properly didnt add any antichlorine solution. I being almost changing like 50-70% straight from tap water without any fatality at all. Usually is the way how we introduce causing the death to the fauna.

Well the death rate is at finally at 0 liao. out of 50 cherry's... now have about 40, found about 10 death in total.
Notice the shell very often and the colour now is great!

Just happen to spot 2 baby shrimps today. Didn't expect the shirimps to breed in my tank with so many fishes.
