    Re: ruisheng's scape

Hmmm... It doesn't look like the normal driftwood. Am I right?
Everything should be made as simple as possible...but not one bit simpler.

It looks good, but i think you will see a significant difference if you paint the back of the tank black.

    Re: ruisheng's scape

Seems like the branches are rotting

And, since the competition is only weeks away, perhaps it's wiser to add most plants right now to allow them to grow. Why not join the AQ ADA 09 too?

    All the best

    Re: ruisheng's scape

At the moment not wanting a background. Because tried and the tank looks dark. Not much light entering.

This tank was setup in Feb 08 with the branches. Initial first few weeks they looked like rotting but after a month, no change in their condition till now.

mmm still thinking about the plants because I dont want the plants to hide the hardscape. And also doubt I have time for ADA 09.

    Re: ruisheng's scape

There is still time for ADA 2009, simply because ADA 2010 is too far away!

All you need to do is to finalize the layout, add in the plants and let them grow nicely for the coming 4 to 6 weeks.

    Now or never

I like the twigs. Where did you get them? They looked raw with the bark still on them?

Along roads. Ya barks still on, but yamatos are always peeling them. I like the texture and colours of the branches.

    Re: ruisheng's scape

Hmm I didnt measure the parameters but I have not had any problems with faunas like Betta rubra, Corydoras pygmaeus, Dicrossus maculatus, yamatos and Kerri.

Plant growth was good as well.

I had the branches in tank for about a year already.

It takes quite sometime for it to sink. Some for more than a month. You might want to hose it down and soak in a pail of water first till it sinks. For there onwards easier to scape in tank.

To be more safe, avoid expensive faunas. Some said as time progress, nutrients may leech out and rotting may take place and then will affect the water parameters. Like I say avoid expensive faunas and go for a budget setup. Branches are free.

Thanks for sharing. I think I will go look for some branches now. To the rest thinking the same, it would be good to soak them in boiling water.
