Could it be baby shrimps??

Just woke up this morning and was wondering why my tank was so cloudy after I did a 50% water change two days ago. Notice some green hair algae on the glass and was observing if any of my "algae termintors" consume them. Suddenly noticed some very "fish like" tiny white spots swimming around the front glass. They would swim for a while, stop on the glass, and swim again, they swim separately, not in groups. However, they are really too tiny to be identified under naked eyes. Any idea what it could be? Should I be worried?
I have a 4x2x2 planted tank
PH: 7.4
KH: 4
Ammonia/nitite/nitrate: 0
Residents:
2-3 Otos(1 looks more adult, other 2 like still underage)
3-4 Yamatoes
12-15 Cherry Shrimps
20-25 Malayan Shrimps

Could it be baby shrimps??

Yup, most likely baby shrimps... The same thing happened to me on my 2ft when I put in Malayan shrimps. Water turned very cloudy overnight and I noticed that the Malayans that were carrying eggs no longer had them. Conclusion is that those were baby shrimps. May get sucked up by your filter eventually...

By the looks of the KH and pH, you're not injecting CO2 yet? It's a good idea to start already. Fertilising yet?
Find out if it's green water or bacteria bloom. Just get a sampl of water and view against white background. Greenish = green water.
Your 50% water change... did you add anti-chlorine/chloramine? A massive water change like that can wipe out part or whole bacteria colony. Purpose of the water change? I never change my tank water during the cycling period. Seems to work fine.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

I changed the water due to the bloom in Hair Algae(looks even worst now) and nitrate.----------------

I stopped all fertilisation since the bloom in algae accept potassium.
CO2 was always on since day one, the PH from my tap was 8, KH 1. Just got a bottle of Seachem Acid buffer(non-phosphate buffer) and hopefully will be able to maintain them slightly below 7. Was at about 7.8 tested at 1pm on Monday. Now trying to reduce by 0.3-0.4 every 24hr. Last tested 7.4 today.
Anti-chlorine/chloramine was added(3 bottles for $5 recommended by Chan from NA).
I think I will just adjust my filter to use surface only until confirmation that the possible baby shrimps are atleast visually confirmable.
Another weird finding is there are stains that look like mini shimps (about 2-3mm long)on the top of the glass in the water but look like algae too... Any idea?
Just took a sample of the water using a clear mineral water bottle and place it behind some A-4 printing paper, look more of milky yellow then green. Is it consider green water? Can pass it to you guys if you want[]

I tried to touch those "shrimps like" aliens with a tweezer and I can see them jump off the tank and settle down on the side of the tank again soon... I think likely those are the baby shrimps but they doesn't look very active. On the other hand, those tiny white moving spots are very active and behave alot like oto's movements. Anyone successfully bred any otos before?

Hi GD, don't add acid buffer if you inject CO2. I think it is an weak acid. It will just remove the carbonates to lower the pH. It may also cause you KH reading to be "inacurate" because it may contribute to the KH reading.----------------

I can't turn in more CO2 because my Sera CO2 indicator in the other corner of the tank is detecting over dosing... running at 2.5-3bps

It is fine if your tap water has pH 8 and KH 1. Just inject CO2 the pH should drop.
It does not make sense to me how pH 7.4 and KH 4 could result in overdosing. Got to check your pH probe again, IMO.

they should not be shrimp at all, but they are related
you see the pop-hop motion?
puts me in mind of ostracods/copepods/the funny crustacean relatives that pop up in new tanks
don't worry about them and don't bother trying to cultivate them![]()
your fish will eat them once they are hungry enough
my gourami used to scan the glass looking for them to eat
very cool

Just bringing up another possibilty..
Could it be pests?
I've had tiny white spots, hopping around before, and also this mite like creature hopping around from plant to plant. They were both under water and not on the surface, so i don't think they were the surface type of mites.
This happened because i went on a holiday and thus:
1 feet tank
did not change water for 2 weeks, which resulted in bacteria bloom, dirty water (didn't check if it was green water) Blue-Green Algae on surface, and the tiny white spots and mite like creature in tank.

i dun think it is shrimps . i have shrimps that bred in my tanks b4 and i never notice any of their babies swimming up to the surface(coz i think that will make them more vulnerable). i never see them breed but i know they did becozz i suddenly have alot of baby shrimp
