    Help With Fertilization Dosing for 2FT Tank

    Tank Specification
    2Ft x 1Ft x 1.5Ft (L x W x H)
    2 X 55W PL Lights
    Eheim 2213 with additional powerhead for better water circulation
    2bps of CO2 through diffuser and into powerhead (Misting)
    GEX Soil

    Fertilization Dosage
    Mon, Wed , Fri - 1ml (N), 2ml Trace
    Tue , Thu, Sat - 1/32 TSP KH2SPO4, 1ml (Fe)
    Sun - 1/4 TSP GH Booster after 50 % water change

    Flora
    Nana, Narrow Leaf Fern, MM, Japonica, Glosso

    After setting up the tank for close to 2 months, I noticed that my MM is starting to show yellow / translucent leaves. It used to be healthy looking. As for the other plants, they are all healthy and not showing any signs of deficiency. I am unsure as to whether my dosing technique is sufficient / insufficient to provide all the nutrients to my plants for a healthy growth. Can anyone here help me rectify the problem I am facing? Hopefully you can help by filling my Fertilization Dosage if there is a need to change my current regime. Thanks in advance.

    You need to dose N and K. I didn't see any in your dossing regime. I assume you mean KH2PO4 instead of KH2SO4.

    Try tripling your N dosage, and find a source of K and P to dose together with the N.

    Here is my updated dosing regime. Would this be stable for my tank? I'm afraid of upping my nitrogen levels as I read somewhere that an imbalance of nutrients may cause an algae breakout especially if it involves Nitrogen. Is this true? Does anyone have a dosing regime that I can follow that has been successful for them all this while? Thanks. Really need help.

    which fertelizer do you use? seem like you are trying to use EI. If so then you should have read somewhere on the article that adding Nitrogen does not cause algae bloom unless you are dossing amonia

    I assume you are using seachem. If my guess correct, then for 2x2x1.5ft tank
    1ml of N will give you 0.445ppm
    1ml of P will give you 0.0278ppm
    2ml of K will give you 0.5362ppm

    that way too low, the recomended target for EI are
    NO3 =5-30 ppm
    K =10-30 ppm
    PO4 =1-2 ppm

    Your tank is abit uncommon so probably not many if not nobody have it. you can follow my dossing regime for 3ft tank, your tank volume is about the same as my 3ft tank. But then KNO3 is no longer available in singapore

    Other thing is your CO2, 2bps, is kind of low for your tank size.

    Hey Robert...
    I made a mistake. My tank dimension isn't as mentioned. It's actually 2ft (L) x 1ft (W) x 1.5ft (H). I think it's common tank because it was bought from Y618.

    Robert,
    I just checked out your blog. That's what I need! But as you mentioned, KNO3 is not available in Singapore. So what do you substitute it with? And if you did use another kind of fertilizer, what is your dosing amount or how did u mix your concoction to be used weekly?

    Does not matter, just multiply by 2 and you are still dossing it too low

    I assume you are using seachem. For 2x1x1.5ft tank
    1ml of N will give you 0.8901ppm
    1ml of P will give you 0.0556ppm
    2ml of K will give you 1.0724ppm

    you can replace it by Ca(NO3)2.4(H2O) or seachem Nitrogen. I have not get the change to try CaNo3 yet. Seachem Nitrogen for your tank need about 10ml 3 times a week.

    So what you are saying is that I can just replace the KNO3 with Seachem's Nitrogen? Or do i still have to dose the Phosphorous and the Potassium as well? I forgot to mention in my earlier post that I do have Lushgro Aqua, Micro and K2SO4 as well. Can any of these be used as a replacement? And is Ca(NO3)2.4(H2O) part of the Lushgro series and where can I get it from? Sorry for bombarding you with so much questions Robert. You've been of great help.

    I use seachem Equilibrium for K and KH2PO4 for P. Additional K is from KH2PO4. You can use Seachem Phosphorous and Potassium but it isn't cheap

    I've done some research on the net and I've come out with with a dosing regime for a common
    2ft (L) x 1ft (W) x 1.5ft (H) tank.

    Monday, Wednesday, Friday
    4ml Trace, 1ml Iron

    Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
    8ml Nitrogen, 1/32 KH2PO4

    Sunday
    50% water change, 8ml Nitrogen , 1/32 KH2PO4, 1/4 Equilibrium

    Traces and nitrogen can be upped to suit your plants needs. Hopefully this regime suits most aquarists.
    Thanks Robert for the help again. I've learnt a lot from you.
