    Hi bros,

    Tank size : 3x1.5x1.5FT
External filter : Eheim 2224 (media :normal filter cotton & some coral chips)
    Co2 supplement : Seachem Excel
    Lightings : 2x36W PL

After months of reading gathering valuable information from AQ bros here. Finally able to start my very 1st planted tank.

Day 1 : Bought 3 stern plants from NA. Filter not ready.
    Attachment 11762

Day 2: Filter running to start cycle water

Day 3 : Water in tank turn yellowish.
    Attachment 11763

Anyone got any idea? What happened? Will my water clear off after a period of time ?

Now one of the plant has melted just as many bros experienced.

I think you need to plant more heavily, or else algae will take hold.
The inlet of you filter seems to be touching the substrate, it might be sucking the sand from bottom.
You need to take the plants out of their pot and put them in substrate.
Why do you have coral chips in your filter, I think they will make your water hard.

Well bro, like what the other bro is mentioning how come you but coral chips as part of your media? I will increased the ph. You need to put in biological and machanical media instead. Do look at Eheim website to see the placement of media.

Btw. how long do you turn on your lights?

I wonder why it turns yellowish? Any bro can help explain? From the melting plant maybe?

A melting plant cannot turn a tank yellow.
It is some colour leaching out of either, substrate, rocks or it might be from filter cotton also.
The media baskets of Eheim 2224 are meant to be filled with appropiate media, bioballs or other media, filter cotton will not right for them.
If it is milky it might be due bacterial bloom ina new tanks and should go away as tank stablises.

I personally also think likewise as sandeepraghuvanshi. It should be the water chemical that came from filter. Filter was previously running on a 2ft tank of goldfish. Media using filter cotton & coral chips. pH was at 7.4. Currently above tank pH is 6.4. Anyway will try change partial water & monitor water condition from here. Cheers bros for your valuable input/comment.
