New 2-ft setup

What is the name of the plant on the background right side? I've been looking for it but couldn't find it, I kept it before, it is a lovely plant with superb growth rate and fast too.

BTW, I don't seem to find any "Hygrophila polysperma" in your tank? Try google and see if you put the wrong name info?

tank looks very high. how many centimeters high? do u have a problem with the plants because of too little light ?

ching: Plant on the background right side is Hygrophila corymbosa. I wrongly ID the plant as polysperma. My bad! I put this plant in there mainly to soak up the excess nutrients. I plan to replace it with E. ozelot soon, because ozelot grows super large and can provide good cover for the fish.

Kac_r: The tank is roughly 18 inches high from base to edge. That should be about 45cm excluding the height of the substrate. My substrate slopes higher towards the back. About 1 inch high near the front, and almost 3 inches at the rear of the tank.

I don't think is Hygrophila corymbosa because when I google for the photo, it seem different too. But from the name you gave, I found this "HYGROPHILA ANGUSTIFOLIA", http://www.geocities.com/wilmas_thec...gustifolia.JPG , is this the one you had?

I think you are right. It does look like angustifolia. Hmm... this is weird because I browsed through the plant pages at Tropica's website and thought that mine looked like corymbosa.

But one thing's for sure. It's definitely a Hygrophila species.

Tropica's website lists it as Hygrophila corymbosa 'Angustifolia' so we were both not wrong!

H. corymbosa has many different types of sub-species so be sure to get the correct one.

This plant is going to twist your tank out of whack, once it starts to grow, it GROWSSSS. I have already remove all mine , it just took over half of my tank....but it's a beautiful plant though....

Yah. The problem with plants like these is that they are Hygrophilas and they grow like weed. I'll post some new pics of my tank soon. The Ludwigias are growing well but I think I made a mistake in their placement within the tank.

My Hydrocotyle is also sprouting new leaves every few days!

Update! All the plants are growing well. Even the Anubias is shooting out new leaves every day.

I find my scape a bit messy though. Might rescape (with same plants) if I can find some nicer driftwood or bogwood. The Windelov also looks messy and the branched tips trap a LOT of dirt. No idea why. Maybe not enough water current to dissipate the dirt.

Sorry, forgot to add.

No water changes since I started this scape. Only water top-up due to evaporation from the AC fan. About 1.5 litres daily. Sometimes I forget to topup and will then need to topup more the following day.

No algae issues except for brown diatoms a month into the scape due to zero fauna. All diatoms disappeared after 3 days when I introduced my algae-eating army of 5 Yamato shrimps and 3 Ottos.

My cardinals are not eating processed food with fervour, yet. I'm now feeding them frozen bloodworms and they are happy with this. Tetra bits, crisps and granules are not really accepted by them yet.

Here's my other tank.

A 2-ft angelfish tank.

Eheim Liberty 2041 and an Atman internal filter as filtration, filled with filter wool and SubstratPro.

Lighting is 36W PL 10 hours daily.

Substrate of lapis sand, with some porous clay base ferts I bought from Aquarama 09.

2 pieces of branchy woods, and lots of Anubias and ferns tied in. Ferns are the standard Java species, with one lot of Windelov and one 'Philippine'.

Fauna include 6 blue angels, 2 SAEs, 1 golden algae eater, 1 Yamato shrimp, 2 corydoras.

Dosing regime - Seachem Flourish Excel for carbon, and Lushgro Macro+Micros once a week.

No algae issues at all. Only thing is, the older anubias leaves turn yellow. But since the plants are not dying, no reason to interfere...

I plan to add amazon swords and vallis at the back, and tenellus down front. Hope they don't die on me...
